Job Description

The Library Teaching Assistant supports the work of Thomas Metcalf Elementary School through duties in learning and providing instruction, information access, and library program administration.

This position is subject to summer academic break layoff, typically mid-May through mid-August.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
1.High school diploma or equivalent.
2.Any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories:
A. work experience in a library or equivalent setting.
B. college course work in any field as measured by the following conversion table
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)

Preferred Qualifications
1. Knowledge of children's literature.
2. Experience working with and/or providing instruction to children.
3. Strong oral and written communication skills.
4. Artistic and creative characteristics.
5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
6. Basic technical skills and proficiency in packages similar to and including Microsoft products, Google products, OPAC or scheduling product/service-oriented software, and electronic devices such as an iPad.

Salary

$19.06 - $19.71 per hour
