Job Description

The primary duty of this position involves classifying equipment for capitalization, disposals, or depreciation. The incumbent determines proper reporting and classification of equipment based on accounting principles, GAAP standards, and University policies. Additional responsibilities include creating standard reports such as periodic equipment listings, quarterly C-15 report, and many other monthly and annual reports.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications
1. Any one or any combination of the following, totaling three (3) years (36 months), from the categories below:
- work experience and/or training in Accounting or a closely related field - college course work and/or training in Accounting or a closely related field including 12 semester hours in accounting
- Associate Degree (60 semester hours) equals 18 months
- 90-semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree or higher (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)

2. A total of four (4) years (48 months) of progressively responsible experience in professional level accounting work consistent with the next lower level of this series.

- An advanced degree in accountancy or registration as a Certified Public Accountant may be substituted for one year of professional experience.

Desired Qualifications
1. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures including fixed asset and lease accounting.

2. Knowledge of personal computers, Colleague, Excel, Word, and other accounting related applications. Some programming knowledge helpful.

3. Ability to have flexibility. Priorities change based on daily requirements and deadlines.


Salary

$21.53 – $28.00/hour

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
