Job Description
The primary responsibilities of this position are serving as the manager of the Registrar Service Center call center, serving as the office communications specialist, managing the Office's calendaring, and in-person customer service on a rotating basis. The work of this position revolves around compliance, database administration, quality control, and other office work related to the general business operations of the Office.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations or a closely related field.
2. Previous full-time work experience in Higher Education.
3. Strong client-service orientation, including a commitment and sensitivity to and understanding of a diverse University clientele and an understanding of shared governance concepts.
4. Demonstrated time-management, organizational, and communication skills.
5. Ability to make correct independent decisions based on understanding of federal, state and local laws, compliance issues and institutional polices while also maintaining the integrity of the University.
6. Ability to generate new ideas and a willingness to learn, adapt and grow.
7. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, while remaining focused on client service.
8. Understanding of student information systems.
9. Knowledge of past and present Illinois State University and Office of the University Registrar policies and procedures.
10. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations (including Family Educational Rights and Privacy Acts of 1974, as amended) related to student records, confidential information, and record management.
11. Demonstrated ability to interpret federal regulations as they affect University policies.
12. Knowledge of Office of the University Registrar philosophies, policies, and procedures.
13. Knowledge of receiving, disbursing, and handling payments.
14. Knowledge of Student Information Systems with specific understanding of processing procedures and data elements and screens supporting academic records.
15. Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and public relations skills.
16. Familiarity with Office of the University Registrar contracts with the National Student Clearinghouse and terms of the same.
17. Ability to generate new ideas and a willingness to learn, adapt, and grow.
18. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, then employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
