Job Description

Employees at this level are responsible for the technical maintenance, operation, and efficiency of a radio and/or television station(s). They work under administrative supervision from a designated supervisor.
A Chief Broadcasting Engineer typically –
1. is responsible for the technical maintenance and operation of one or more radio and/or television stations
2. trains student operators and engineers
3. assigns, supervises, and evaluates the work of the engineering staff
4. supervises the development, testing, and construction of new equipment
5. installs, operates, and maintains radio and/or television broadcasting equipment
6. assists in planning future developments and expansion
7. keeps abreast of new and continuing developments in the field of broadcast engineering
8. supervises the set-up of remote broadcast units
9. carries on technical radio and/or television research
10. is responsible for requisitioning supplies and equipment
11. supervises recording service
12. works with management and program personnel in the development of production techniques
13. performs other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
1. (A) four academic years of progressively more advance training in electrical or electronic technology/engineering in a college, university, and/or trade school
or
(B) 36 months of progressively responsible work experience in radio and television engineering or television engineering
or
(C) any combination of A and B that totals 36 months

2. three years of responsible experience in radio and television engineering or television engineering

NOTE: Certification as a Senior Broadcast Engineer (or higher category of certification) by the Society of Broadcast Engineers can be used to satisfy all the credential requirements of the class, if accepted by the employing institution


Salary

$3,905/month
