Job Description

This position will be responsible for University facilities engineering planning, design, installation, review, commissioning and related project administration activities for mechanical engineering construction, renovation, infrastructure, equipment and distribution systems and projects. In addition this position will be responsible for University facilities electrical engineering design review for electrical engineering construction, renovation, infrastructure, equipment and distribution systems and projects. This position conducts in person, telephone and oral communications with all levels of the University community and a wide spectrum of outside agencies including consultants and vendors (architects, engineers, craft personnel, contractors, suppliers, etc.).


Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree from an approved college of engineering in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering as required by the position to be filled in the area of specialization inherent in the position may be required
**Applicants possessing a Master's degree, in a closely related field, meet the requirements of #1 above.
2. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
2. Five to seven years of responsible and successful experience in major planning and/or construction programs for a large public university
3. Knowledge of Illinois State University Design Guidelines
4. Knowledge and experience with BIM, MS Project and other applicable engineering and energy software programs
5. Minimum 4 years work experience in private Consulting Mechanical Engineering Design Firm
