Job Description

Campus Dining Services (CDS) is committed to providing an outstanding dining experience for students. This position plays an integral role in accomplishing this goal by assisting the restaurant manager and assistant manager with all aspects of food production and service in our retail venues. Persons in this position have a hand in food production, sanitation, customer service, and cash handling. This position will work in any one of our retail venues including the Airport Lounge, Business Bistro, Burger King, Einstein Bros. ® Bagels, Starbucks, McAlister's Deli, Pizza Hut and University High School Store.

CDS is a large, progressive, innovative department functioning under the Division of Student Affairs. CDS provides the campus community and guests with high-quality foods and services in a variety of settings dedicated to accentuating and enhancing the customer experience in a diverse community. Led by experienced culinary professionals, we offer staff the opportunity to work in newly-renovated facilities and are committed to using quality ingredients and processes. Training will include (but not limited to) instruction and practice in the following:
- Prep food including clean, slice and portion meats, vegetables and other foods for serving.
- Serve food: including order taking and the use of a cash register.
- Follow established sanitation principles in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines.
- Learn established safety techniques.


Qualifications

1. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.

2. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.


Salary

$10.07 per hour

The incumbent will remain at the Food Court/Snack Bar Attendant Intern status for the first six months of employment. Upon successful completion of the Intern program, the employee will be recommended by the hiring department to move to a Food Court/Snack Bar Attendant. At that time, the employee will move to the Food Court/Snack Bar Attendant rate.

Working hours and days off will be subject to bid.

This position is represented by AFSCME Local 1110.

This is a full-time position on an academic calendar. It will be subject to academic break lay-off (such as spring break, summer break).
