Job Description

This position supports the fiscal management of business operations within the Office of Research and Innovation by coordinating budget and accounting processes across departmental units. The role is responsible for performing professional-level tasks related to budget tracking, reporting, and financial analysis in accordance with established policies and procedures.

The position assists with budget forecasting, prepares financial reports, and provides recommendations to support effective resource management. Responsibilities include coordinating financial aspects of internally funded programs, including the AVP grant process, and supporting the administration of the Research Incentives Program and indirect cost distributions.

Additionally, the position contributes to financial coordination related to intellectual property activities and provides support for ongoing budgeting operations across the unit.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or related degree.
Two years (24 months) of professional level work experience in managerial and/or business roles
Familiarity with or general knowledge of fiscal processes and procedures.
The following skills and or abilities:
a. Demonstrated proficiency of generally accepted accounting principles.
b. Computer software proficiency including Excel databases and spreadsheets.
c. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, for contact with faculty and administrative staff across all areas of campus.
d. Organizational and analytical skills, initiative, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, diplomacy, and good judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
One year (12 months) of professional level work experience at an administrative level.


Salary

$60,000 - $70,000 annual, combined with an excellent benefits package

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.

Residency Requirement: If hired, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days from the start date for this position.
