Job Description

The Paraprofessional provides support for students in the HILIA program at Thomas Metcalf School.

This position is subject to academic break layoff, typically mid-May through mid-August.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Possession of a valid Paraprofessional Educator’s License with Stipulations Endorsement as required by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Preferred Qualifications
Skill in signing and/or interpreting and ability to model appropriate use of language and speech when communicating.
Past experience working with students with hearing loss.
Knowledge of listening, language, and speech development.
Experience working with equipment to facilitate hearing.
Willingness to be flexible with work assignments and schedule.
Ability to transition quickly between classrooms throughout the building in a timely manner.


Salary

$15.18 - $19.73 per hour

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
