Job Description

The Data Automation Engineer will facilitate business process workflows and data movement between systems that University Advancement operates for fundraising and alumni engagement. The Engineer builds and manages workflow solutions to create efficiencies in existing business processes. The Engineer is responsible for ensuring seamless interfacing with other University systems as well as third-party vendor technologies. The Engineer identifies and resolves data integrity issues between University Advancement data systems and the original data sources and contributes to data dictionaries and database diagrams for in-house databases. The Engineer is required to meet frequently with data owners, project managers, and business analysts to discuss requirements for implementing data flows and the business processes that will depend upon it. The Engineer works to create efficiencies in existing data collection applications or develop new solutions for front-end data input methods to maximize the value and usage of data assets.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related field.
Work experience which included:
a. Two years (24 months) of professional experience working in information technology
b. Two years (24 months) of experience working with business workflow solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of:
a. Microsoft Sharepoint administration or workflow development
b. Salesforce CRM
c. Enterprise databases and procedural languages
The following skills and/or abilities:
a. Strong communication skills
b. Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
c. A good grasp of the technical side of business intelligence


Salary

$60,000 - $75,000 annual

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.

If hired, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days from the start date for this position.
