Job Description
In addition to the secretarial skills, this position requires knowledge, understanding, and compliance of university policies and procedures in order to effectively support the Physics Department mission and goals. Excellent organizational skills are required.
Additional knowledge and skills include responsibility in keeping confidential information, ability to develop, organize and collate significant amounts of data into readable formats; initiative to promote professionalism, unity, teamwork, and efficiency of operations.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below:
A. College coursework in any curriculum, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. Work experience performing office/clerical activities, including the use of computer systems.
3. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience comparable to the second level of this series. This includes working under general supervision and in support of an office or of a organization. Performing office support tasks requiring knowledge of general office and departmental procedures and methods, the ability to operate a variety of office equipment, and the ability to operate computer systems using word processing, database, and software packages.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, as well as Adobe Creative Suite (such as for photo editing/archiving, etc.), and database programs.
2. Experience with Datatel/Elucian Colleague payment processing,
3. Ability to multitask, work efficiently and have excellent time management skills.
4. Ability to organize multiple types of information and is detailed oriented.
5. Ability to work well with others.
6. Strong professional communication skills.
7. Strong work ethic and is willing to take the initiative to solve problems.
8. Critical thinking skills required for analyzing data, creating reports, and suggesting decision options.
9. Vocational training that provided knowledge of generally accepted clerical processes and/or college/university course work in Business Administration or closely related fields.
10. Ability to work as part of a team.
11. Ability to deliver confidential documents to other offices outside of Moulton Hall.
Salary
$18.05 - $18.70 per hour - see note in Special Instructions to Applicants section
