Job Description

Business Process Improvement (BPI) Consultant works with and alongside business partners to successfully achieve their operational goals, meet University strategic goals, and improve organizational processes. The BPI consultant collects data about an organization’s operations to improve its systems and processes. Their primary duties include researching business processes, determining root causes of inefficiencies, exploring appropriate solutions, and making reports to the process owner and divisional leadership with recommendations and analysis of potential impacts of their recommendations. The BPI Consultant will also help process owners to identify and select appropriate performance measures that can be tracked over time. The incumbent in this position is expected to work independently, use their professional training and judgment to identify both challenges and potential solutions, and work collaboratively with others to optimize business processes.


Additional Information
The Organizational Performance Office is a new unit in the Finance and Planning Division at the University. Incumbents in this position will play an instrumental role in the establishment and development of the new unit, building relationships with key stakeholders, and building organizational capacity through their work with partners.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s or equivalent degree (Transcript required - may be unofficial)
2. Two (2) years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) professional experience executing business processes (Note: a business process is any administrative or operational procedure that requires multiple sequential steps to complete)
3. Six Sigma yellow belt (or higher) certification.

Preferred Qualifications
1.Ability to apply Lean/Six Sigma principles and methodologies, as evidenced by six sigma green belt (or higher) certification.
2.One (1) or more years of experience in either business process improvement or organizational development consulting.


Salary

$65,000 - $80,000/annual

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
