Job Description

The Prevention and Outreach Coordinator serves a dual role within the Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC), focusing on both outreach and substance use prevention programming. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing substance use prevention initiatives while also leading outreach efforts.

In the outreach function, the Prevention and Outreach Coordinator will organize outreach initiatives to support homeless students and those under the care of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS) as they transition from secondary to higher education. The Prevention and Outreach Coordinator serves as a member of the Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC). Responsibilities include college readiness presentations, conducting campus tours, and collaborating with the Housing and Opportunities that are Useful for Students' Excellence (HOUSE) Liaison, as well as the Director. The role also involves establishing partnerships with both campus and community organizations to enhance support services for these student populations.

In the prevention function, the Prevention and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing educational initiatives, organizing awareness campaigns, and ensuring compliance with best practices in prevention strategies.

Additionally, this position ensures the Counseling and Wellness Center's adherence to all regulatory and state mandates.


Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in substance abuse counseling or addiction studies from an accredited college or university.
2. Minimum two (2) to four (4) years' experience in social service agency setting.
3. Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years' experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
4. Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years' experience facilitating prevention activities such as workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns.
5. Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years' experience developing partnerships with community organizations.
6. Outreach work addressing homelessness or supporting students in transition.

Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.


Salary

$58,656.00 to $67,455.00
