Job Description
Governors State University is seeking to hire a Coordinator of Civic Engagement for the Center for Student Engagement and Intercultural Programs. Under the Director's general direction, the Coordinator of Civic Engagement and Intercultural Education (CEIE) transforms student lives through leadership education, identity development, and community engagement. The coordinator creates monthly programming that enhances cultural and civic awareness, diversity, and service. This position will be responsible for planning and delivering intercultural education programming to promote intercultural competence and greater cross-cultural understanding on campus and in the community. The coordinator provides students opportunities to learn and broaden their multicultural lens, serve the campus and community, and enhance leadership skills.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in intercultural studies, student personnel, counseling, higher education administration, social work, or a related field.
2. One (1) year of professional work experience in student affairs, student development, program/event management, student-based community-service, non-profit, or a related field.
3. One (1) year of professional work experience in student engagement.
4. Demonstrated experience in organizational, human relations, problem solving and communication skills; and the ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external constituents in connecting programs and services offered in the university.
5. Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships in/with a diverse group/environment, confidence in developing and communicating programs to stakeholders and campus partners.
6. Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and establish work priorities ensuring timely completion of responsibilities.
Salary
$58,656.00 to $61,000
