Job Description

Job Summary
The Accounting Officer in Facilities Services processes financial transactions including purchasing, contracts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable within numerous account types (e.g. General Revenue, Agency, Service, and Foundation). They will demonstrate effective and accurate data entry while providing customer service and fielding inquiries from various sources (e.g. external vendors and colleagues).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below:

A. Course work in accounting, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
-9 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)

B. Course work in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
-30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
-Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months
-90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)

C. Work experience in bookkeeping, office support, or closely related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Basic office skills including, but not limited to:
1. Keyboarding aptitude
2. Use of basic office machines
3. Good interpersonal skills
4. Proper phone etiquette
5. Basic computer skills that include experience with Excel spreadsheets and word processing applications.
6. Experience using TMA system
7. Ability to speak clearly by telephone and in person and comprehend both written and verbal instructions.


Salary

$18.50-$19.15/hour

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.

If hired, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days from the start date for this position.
