Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide primary mental health care for students presenting with mental health conditions. In the care of patients, the Psychiatric APRN uses advanced diagnostic skills, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes medication in accordance with the Nursing and Advanced Practice Act, and administers medications. The Psychiatric APRN uses medical therapeutic, and corrective measures to treat illness and improve mental health status.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
1. State of Illinois Advanced Practice Registered Nurse- Full Practice Authority license (FPA)
2. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification (PMHNP-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center
3. Illinois Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing)
4. Illinois practitioner license under the Illinois Controlled Substance Act, including Schedule II medications

Preferred Qualifications
1. Two (2) to Five (5) years of experience working with mental health patients.
2. Experience in college health.
3. Proficient in documentation in and use of an electronic medical record.


Salary

$10,000 - $11,667 per month, commensurate with experience and education

Comments Student Health Services is accepting applications for two (2) Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse positions:
- One twelve month position subject to academic break layoff (Fall, winter, spring, and summer)
- One twelve month position NOT subject to academic break layoff

Applicable part-time work experience will be considered toward qualifying for this position; however, it will be converted to a full-time equivalency to determine combined length of experience. The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.

In order to be eligible for Veteran's Preference points on the exam, appropriate military service documentation, such as a DD-214, may be faxed, mailed, delivered to Human Resources in order to receive the maximum eligible points.
