Job Description
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) has an immediate opening for a Program Communication Specialist. The person selected will develop and communicate specialized knowledge in financial aid and financial aid programs and be responsible for disseminating Program Services digital communications. Monitoring, creating and maintaining website content and developing written material about ISAC financial aid programs and processes for inclusion in agency communications are key activities in this fast-paced role. This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Monitor, create and maintain website content about ISAC financial aid programs and processes. Web content is directed to students/parents, high school counselors, financial aid administrators and other members of the higher education community.
• Develop written material for agency communications providing program information/instruction and program guidance/direction for the above audiences.
• Monitor the e-mail account used to collect requested updates to website content and complete requests.
• Perform functions for ongoing maintenance of website content through agency-supported software, including updating web pages and monitoring the distribution of e-Messages and newsletters.
• Serve on agency project teams for the implementation of priority agency projects to administer, improve, and promote ISAC financial aid programs and services.
• Assist other departments as an editor of documents, reports, and other agency materials to ensure correct and consistent ISAC standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
• One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area
• One (1) year of professional work experience in financial aid, higher education, student services or closely related experience
• Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of ISAC and federal financial aid programs and processes
• Ability to learn the systems used to create and distribute e-Messages and make changes to ISAC website content
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Salary
$46,000 per year
