Job Description
Governors State University is seeking to hire a Director of Graduate Advising. This position is responsible for the coordination of workloads, scheduling, onboarding, professional development, and assessment of graduate advising. Skillful communication with and management of personnel is an essential component of the role. The Director provides vision and leadership to the university advising community, including aspects of student-centered graduate advising from prospective graduate students to degree attainment. The position requires extensive collaboration with academic units on campus. The Director of Graduate Advising reports to the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and is responsible for the integration, facilitation, and coordination of all graduate advising. The Director is also responsible for synthesizing, enabling, and fostering of outcomes driven efforts in academic advising that support student success (e.g. retention, persistence, and graduation).
Qualifications
1. Master's degree in higher education, college student development, human services, counseling, or a related field.
2. At least six (6) years of experience in academic advising.
3. Experience in advising international students.
4. Experience working successfully with diverse populations; able to demonstrate an understanding of sensitivity to and appreciation for academic, ethnic, socio-economic, disability, age and gender diversity of students and staff attending or working at GovState.
5. Proficient experience with Colleague and Starfish or similar software.
Salary
$53,254.50
