Job Description

DIRECTOR FOR DIVERSITY EQUITY AND INCLUSION:
This position will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of inclusivity within the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) and beyond. Serving as a liaison between the ICCB, agency staff, and external entities committed to promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), your responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum of tasks aimed at advancing the principles of equity and fairness. The following outlines the key responsibilities associated with this role:


1. Performance - Regular Assignments:

a. Ensure compliance with reporting standards and oversee the fulfillment of grant agreements for colleges participating in the Workforce Equity Initiative (WEI).
b. Offer support and guidance for various DEI-related grants and programs, contributing to the successful execution of initiatives aligned with diversity and inclusion.
c. Compile comprehensive reports detailing the progress and impact of DEI initiatives for submission to the Governor’s Office, demonstrating a commitment to transparency and accountability.
d. Act as a representative of ICCB in meetings convened by the Governor’s Office, ensuring effective communication and alignment with state-level DEI priorities.
e. Facilitate the seamless execution of Intergovernmental Agreements related to the Workforce Equity Initiative, contributing to the overall success of the program.
f. Collaborate with ICCB fiscal staff to oversee budget amendments, ensuring financial resources are allocated in alignment with DEI goals.
g. Foster strong collaborative relationships with the Lead WEI College, working closely to ensure the successful implementation of the Workforce Equity Initiative.
h. Offer technical support and guidance to WEI colleges, addressing queries and providing assistance to enhance the effectiveness of DEI initiatives.
i. Act as a representative of ICCB, sharing insights and updates on DEI and Workforce Equity Initiative initiatives at relevant conferences.
j. Collaborate with the ICCB DEI Committee to design and implement professional development opportunities for agency staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
k. Play a key role in crafting proposals related to DEI initiatives both within the agency and externally, contributing to the expansion and sustainability of diversity and inclusion efforts.
l. Stay informed about state and national trends in DEI, providing valuable input to agency policy and research initiatives.
m. Facilitate the submission of equity plans from colleges, including analysis, feedback, presentations, and reporting to support continuous improvement.
n. Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of agency-wide DEI initiatives, fostering an inclusive environment.
o. Collaborate with the agency's diversity, equity, and inclusion committee, offering support and expertise to advance their initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)


Salary

$62,000.00 - $68,000.00

Comments Additional Desirable Qualifications
1. DEI related professional memberships and/or certifications is preferred.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
3. Experience and ability to work with outside providers, vendors, or associates. This includes advising and training skills.

5. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
