Job Description

The Government Documents Assistant manages the state of the government documents collection and maintains workflow within the federal depository documents unit in the library consistent with the federal regulations guiding the Federal Depository Library system. This position manages the government documents student assistants.

All activities are directed toward accurate representation of the intellectual and physical content of the library's holdings in the online public catalog for the use of the library's patrons, including students, staff, faculty, and the larger community.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent
Any combination totaling two years (24 months) from the following categories:
(a) work experience in a library or equivalent setting
(b) college course work in any field as measured by the following conversion table:
- 30 semester hours equals one year (12 months)
- 60 semester hours or an Associate's degree equals 18 months
- 90 semester hours equals two years (24 months)
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Federal Depository Library System.
Familiarity with the library's Library Management System (Ex Libras Alma).
Skills in organization, coordination, and work flow analysis.
Ability to work independently, utilizing individual initiative and judgment.
Aptitude for accuracy and detail.
Aptitude for following complex procedures.
Knowledge of computer systems and software packages used in Milner, as well as their related peripherals.


Salary

$17.96 - $18.61 per hour

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
