Job Description
The Assistant Director of Co-Curricular programs provides oversight of Alternative Breaks and Service programs, supports partnerships for service and Alternative Breaks to enhance student learning; elevates student leadership experiences by creating connections between RSOs and community organizations for community service and philanthropy; supports University-wide efforts to promote the core value of civic engagement and serves as a member of the Center for Civic Engagement team.

In general, CCE is responsible for enacting Illinois State’s commitment to civic engagement and fostering a culture that values and rewards civic engagement. This is accomplished through a variety of programs and services with students, faculty, and staff, and in partnership with Bloomington-Normal community organizations. CCE’s work involves volunteering and service-learning, political engagement, and civic education.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in higher education administration, college student personnel administration, counseling, or a related field conferred prior to the position start date
Three years of experience with service-learning, Alternative Breaks, and/or civic engagement, or higher education
Strong oral and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
Experience in/with the following:
a. helping students to create positive social change using multiple forms of civic engagement
b. direct oversight or planning of Alternative Breaks
c. direct oversight or planning of service-learning programs
d. equity-centered curricular planning and assessment of student learning
e. networking across multiple constituencies to cultivate meaningful connections with students, faculty, and staff
f. building and maintaining community partnerships that honor and affirm community voices
g. supervising
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to:
a. be flexible and adapt with a positive attitude
b. collaborate as a positive team member
c. be student-centered and to support an equitable and diverse environment.
Familiarity with risk-management practices
Salary
$58,000 - $62,000 annual
