Job Description
General Summary
The System Administrator works as part of a technical support team that provides end-to-end administration, support, and consultation pertaining to the configuration, setup, networking, preventative maintenance, security, troubleshooting, purchasing, inventorying, and repair of endpoint technologies, including but not limited to desktop and laptop computers, tablets, smartphones, inkjet and laser printers, e-mail and calendaring, and line-of-business applications throughout the College of Education and Lab Schools. The individual in this role also provides documentation of solutions when necessary and tracks all incidents using the University incident management system.
This position is responsible for system administrator activities including the design, implementation, configuration, and management of objects in Active Directory, Group Policy, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Jamf, and the profile and print management solutions as well as the automation of standard tasks for the creation, modification, and retirement of resources in these systems. This position is also responsible for application packaging and patch management for deployment through SCCM and Jamf.
Additionally, this position will serve as an example of successfully implementing best practice standards and achieving high compliance with regulations pertaining to endpoint technologies. This requires working with, guiding, and directly supporting information technology professionals to achieve institutional success with system and application administration.
This role will provide support, guidance, and overall administration of systems such as SCCM, Jamf, InTune, Apple Business/School Manager, and SOPPA.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Any combination totaling at least two (2) years from the following categories:
a. progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT) related profession
b. college course work which included Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 60 semester hours or Associate's degree equals one (1) year
- 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor's degree equals two (2) years
Work experience in Systems Administration, specifically with Microsoft Windows Server and Windows Endpoint administration.
Strong technical aptitude with an understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and software founded on either academic coursework or hands-on experience
Demonstrated ability to follow established procedures, even in high-pressure and time-sensitive situations.
Ability to apply critical thinking to solve complex problems.
Ability to write and communicate in a professional manner, especially when communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
Ability to conduct internal and external meetings with a variety of audiences and perform use case analysis.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's or advanced degree in IT or related field
Experience collaborating with technical staff to develop system integrations and improvements in the Windows server environment.
Experience with design, implementation, management, and support in the following technologies:
a. Windows 10/11, macOS, iOS, and Chrome OS
b. Active Directory (AD) organizational units, computers, users, and security groups.
c. Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 distribution lists, shared calendars, and mailboxes.
d. Group Policy Objects (GPO)
e. System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) collections, packages, driver packages, deployment procedures, build task sequences, endpoint protection policies, software center and application catalog packages, compliance settings, monitoring and reporting, and Windows updates.
f. Windows server roles for file, print, and application.
g. Windows PowerShell.
h. Mobile device management solutions (Jamf)
Experience developing technical documentation.
Knowledge of CIS controls and concepts
Knowledge and experience with source control, issue tracking, and ITSM
Knowledge of and experience with technical writing and documentation
Knowledge or experience with documentation systems (Confluence)
Familiarity with Single Sign-On concepts
Understanding of web server Software such as Apache, IIS, Tomcat, WebLogic
Strong project, analysis, and research skills
Experience in software testing including creating test plans, creating test cases, test execution, and documenting defects
Vendor Certifications like Jamf 100/200, MCSA, Google Administration, etc.
Familiarity with web and object-oriented programming languages useful: HTML, XML/XSL, CSS, PHP, JAVA
Salary
$54,996 - $60,000 annual
