Job Description
The Director of Donor Engagement oversees a comprehensive donor stewardship program that supports the cultivation, recognition, and stewardship of donors and prospects at all levels to foster their lifetime engagement. Incumbent is responsible for the planning, execution, documentation, and evaluation of all stewardship activities collaborating with colleagues throughout University Advancement and across campus. Director establishes standards that help direct University-wide stewardship efforts and are key in creating a philanthropic culture that fosters meaningful relationships with university stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree
2. Minimum three (3) years of professional level experience in philanthropy, preferably in higher education (or a comparably complex organization), development, stewardship, advancement services, or related field.
(Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
3. Demonstrated ability to manage multi-phase projects from inception to completion, including the ability to build consensus among team members and balance multiple concurrent priorities.
4. Skilled in preparing, analyzing, and presenting written reports and spreadsheets.
5. Proven experience using data and operational metrics to improve processes and create innovative solutions to improve donor relationships and stewardship opportunities.
6. Highly motivated self-starter with ability to take initiative.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as professional interpersonal and organizational skills.
8. Excellent social skills, with large groups as well as with individuals
9. Previous success stewarding donors.
10. Time management and planning abilities, including the ability to work well with diverse communities essential.
Desired Qualifications
1. Master's degree
2. Experience working with and solid understanding of endowment funds and awarding process.
3. Ability to conceive and manage projects including tracking and reporting on progress and results.
