Job Description
This position serves as the initial contact with the Alumni Engagement office by answering and dispersing phone calls into the unit and by greeting alumni and visitors to the office. This position also serves as the event registrar and assists alumni, donors and friends of the University as they inquire about and register for alumni activities.This position works closely with professional staff in all phases of the event and program planning process including marketing, development and management of guest lists, participant inquiries, and pre-event arrangements. This staff member is required to apply general office knowledge to work independently on tasks involving Word processing, use of databases, and interactions pertaining to alumni events.

Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the following categories:
A. college coursework in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. responsible work experience in customer services, public relations, office administration, business and financial operations, healthcare administration or other closely related experience
Desired Qualifications
1. Familiarity with Illinois State University's traditions, major programs, and internal departments (i.e. able to respond to alumni questions and appropriately refer guests to campus resources).
2. Outstanding interpersonal skills, enjoys interacting with alumni and University constituents whether in person or on the phone (this is an absolute MUST as this position will be, in many cases, the first point of contact for our alumni).
3. Ability to effectively prioritize and complete work projects with little direction and frequent interruptions (i.e. front desk reception activity).
4. Ability to analyze work processes to better maximize technology solutions and improve work flow.
5. Excellent keyboarding, proofreading skills, filing/organizational ability, strong attention to detail, accuracy, and familiarity with office equipment are required for this position. Experience with Excel and Microsoft Word is required.
6. Candidate must be a self-starter, have ability to meet deadlines, possess good working habits and be able to interact well with persons from diverse backgrounds.
Salary
$14.74 - $16.50 per hour
