Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Director of University Student Center. This position will assist in directing the operations of the MLK Jr. University Union; supervise and assume responsibility for the operation of assigned areas; and assist with the implementation of policies and procedures.
Position Description:

The Assistant Director of the MLK University Union is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Union. Specific responsibilities include oversight of the EIU Bowling Center, supervision of the Union’s Space Administrator, and supervision of the Union’s Accounting Specialist and Ticket Office/Panther Pantry Convenience Store. Additional responsibilities include supervision of undergraduate and graduate student employees, implementation of the Union’s policies and procedures, assistance with liquor sales at university special events, and administration of the Campus Scheduling Office. In conjunction with the Space Administrator, the Assistant Director oversees the campus scheduling software (Astra) and works closely with departments across campus to ensure their needs are met. Due to the scope of work, this position works occasional nights and weekends throughout the year. The Assistant Director of the MLK Union is supervised by the Director the MLK Union and works closely with all other areas of the University Union.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (120 semester hours) in student personnel, business administration or a closely related field and Two (2) years (24 months) of experience in the management of a university/college student union/center or college/university conference unit. A Master’s degree or higher in student personnel, business administration, or a closely related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
