Job Description

The Department of Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality is one of 13 departments within the Division of Student Affairs. It provides the campus community and guests with high-quality, efficient, and innovative event services and dining options in a variety of settings dedicated to accentuating and enhancing the campus experience in a diverse community.

This position manages the technical operations of the Bone Student Center (BSC), including the oversight of performances and event technical needs, maintaining a training program for student stage hands, and supervision of IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists & Allied Crafts) personnel.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling eighteen months (18 months) from the categories below:
A. course work in arts, theatre, theatre management, music business, or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
B. work experience in technical operations of event production or closely related experience.
3. One (1) year (12 months) of supervisory work experience in technical operations of event production.
4. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.

Desired Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Student Affairs, Theatre/Music, or a closely related field.
2. Four years of professional, progressive management experience in the event industry, such as events operations work in a large public assembly building, conference center, entertainment venue, or similar facility. Two years of this experience must have been at an administrative level in a high-volume facility with the responsibility of supervising, evaluating, training, and disciplining employees.
3. Knowledge of management principle, practices, methods, and techniques.
4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds while supporting a welcoming and inclusive environment.
5. Two years of work experience in technical operations of theatrical productions.
6. Demonstrated ability to stay abreast of business and industry knowledge and ability to utilize this knowledge in decision making.
7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the staff and public.
8. Demonstrated ability to lead multiple teams in a complex, diverse organization and successfully provide alignment and innovation to generate measurable outcomes for both the University and a wide variety of clients.
9. Demonstrated ability to lead change including the ability to influence and negotiate.
10. Demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships and network effectively.
11. Must possess highly developed interpersonal, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
12. Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize technology and software applications
