Job Description

The Department of Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality is one of 13 departments within the Division of Student Affairs. It provides the campus community and guests with high-quality, efficient, and innovative event services and dining options in a variety of settings dedicated to accentuating and enhancing the campus experience in a diverse community.

This position coordinates the movement and storage of food and supplies within the operation, cleans and maintains all storage areas including coolers and freezers, and assists with the performance and coordination of the work of Food Service Sanitation Laborers in the dish room, ware washing area, and kitchen facility. Persons in this position must maintain a safe and sanitary work environment in all areas of the dining center.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
1. One (1) year of experience in the food service industry (may include sanitation and/or storekeeping duties), such as in a restaurant or cafeteria setting.

2. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.

Desired Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalency.
2. Previous experience in receiving, storing, and issuing products.
3. Full knowledge and acceptance of principles of diversity.
4. Knowledge of use and operation of cleaning materials, methods, and equipment; clear understanding of sanitation and safety procedures, especially those that pertain to the storage of food.
5. Ability to organize, prioritize, and assign duties.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to produce results working as part of a team or committee.
7. Good communication skills; ability to read and write; understanding of basic math, ability and willingness to follow oral and written instructions and work independently.
8. Basic mechanical ability; ability to do heavy lifting.
9. Knowledge of HACCP standard, sanitation standards, and safe working procedures.
10. Current Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certificate


Salary

$21.82 per hour

This is a full-time position on an academic calendar. It will be subject to academic break lay-off (such as spring break, summer break).
