Job Description

Under general direction provided by the Thomas Metcalf Elementary School Principal, the Business Manager is responsible for all budgets for Thomas Metcalf School, as well as overseeing the billing and payments for student accounts. This exposure encompasses the University community, general public, students, parents, and special visitors to Thomas Metcalf School. Therefore, this person must be able to present a professional personal demeanor, answer questions tactfully, and provide meaningful and accurate answers to questions spanning the entire range of unit responsibilities. Additionally, this position is responsible for verifying time sheets for the substitute teacher needs of Thomas Metcalf School.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or equivalent degree in business administration, management, or field related to the position.
Two (2) years of professional level work experience in managerial and/or business experience, including budget management.
Desired Qualifications
The ability to interact with the public, students, parents, and faculty in a sensitive, tactful manner.
A working knowledge of budget preparation.
An understanding of the guidelines set forth by the Purchasing and Comptroller's Offices at Illinois State University.
Computer knowledge, including Word for Windows, Microsoft Excel, and the ISU Datatel Financial Accounting System.
The ability to effectively work under varying extremes of quiet and clangorous.
The ability to remain calm and perform duties while being interrupted by numerous telephone calls and individuals needing assistance.
Ability to be extremely organized.


Salary

$40,151 - $46,181 annual, commensurate with experience and qualifications

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
