Job Description
The Career Curriculum Development Advisor provides administrative and programmatic leadership to all courses administered by Career Services and courses developed through collaborative efforts with campus partners.
The Career Curriculum Development Advisor plans course content, assesses course effectiveness, and implements continuous plans for course improvement. The Career Curriculum Development Advisor hires NTT instructors for Career Center Services courses, providing ongoing training and support. This position promotes career development across campus by serving as an expert consultant to faculty and staff who want assistance building or strengthening career development in their courses, department, and programs.
Additionally, the Career Curriculum Development Advisor advises and counsels Illinois State University students who are trying to choose a major or explore related career options. The Career Curriculum Development Advisor will be skilled in administering and interpreting appropriate assessments such as FOCUS 2 and the Strong Interest Inventory to assist students in making informed career decisions.
The Career Curriculum Development Advisor will teach Career Services and/or collaborative courses as assigned. This position collaborates with specific programs serving targeted populations within University College and other campus partners/departments in the area of career and curriculum development. The Career Curriculum Development Advisor assists currently enrolled students with résumé preparation, interviewing techniques, and all other career development activities. This person serves as a liaison among advisors, faculty, staff, and students. This position includes presenting outreach programming and workshops to students in classroom settings, residence halls, and student organizations. The Career Curriculum Development Advisor serves as a liaison on behalf of Career Services to University College Academic Advising and ISU faculty.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Master's or equivalent degree in Psychology, College Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration, Human Resources, Counseling, or related field.
Three years of experience in advising, counseling, or career services.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities related to student learning, decision making, and career development, including assessment, mentoring, and instruction.
Demonstrated experience developing curriculum and student action plans.
College level teaching experience.
Experience/ability to effectively guide, advise, counsel, or teach college students in self-discovery and development of life skills, decision making, and all facets of career planning.
Demonstrated understanding of career development theory, Career development, and career readiness.
Excellent advising/counseling, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with individuals of diverse cultures and/or backgrounds and collaborate with multiple and diverse constituents to accomplish goals designed to support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with a variety of internal and external constituents.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with benchmarking, assessment, and analyzing results.
Demonstrated ability to communicate assessment results to relevant stakeholders.
Experience conducting career planning workshops and advising sessions.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement programs.
Practitioner/Certified in administering Strong Interest Inventory.
Proven ability to work with administrators, faculty, and staff.
Direct experience in career planning and development.
Demonstrated ability to utilize career development-related software (i.e. Symplicity, Interview Stream, FOCUS 2).
Salary
$48,000 annual
