Job Description

General Summary
The Office of Technology Solutions regularly communicates, interacts, and collaborates with the campus community regarding new and existing information technologies, services, and events. The Marketing & Communications (M&C) Manager is responsible for coordinating and executing the M&C vision of the department in print and digital formats, including signage, deliverables, and video. The role serves as supervisor to other members of the communication team.

The individual in this role markets Tech Solutions & TechZone services to users across various channels, including social media. They also facilitate pop-up and other marketing events for the TSC and TechZone services.

The position creates and continually improves an organizational communication plan for the department, including a toolkit of templates for utilization by departmental staff. This position also creates and consults on user/campus-facing communications both internally and with campus partners. This position also collaborates with Incident Coordinators on communications during incidents involving Tech Solutions services.

A successful candidate for this position has a passion for communications and experience with information technology, and effectively tells the story of what Technology Solutions can offer and how it affects the campus experience.

The Office of Technology Solutions focuses on the digital experience at Illinois State University. The department provides information technology products and services for the campus population, including business/enterprise applications, portfolio management, networking and server infrastructure, information security, data and analytics, web services, and direct user support.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
Three (3) years of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or related professional areas
Experience working with or for an information technology group.
Experience working in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Experience in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Skill in time management, organizing work assignments, and responding quickly and effectively to challenges
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite software
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of social media analytics, social media publishing tools, web analytics, and tracking technologies.
Knowledge of principles and methods for showing and promoting products or services, including marketing strategy and tactics.
Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and efficiency of use with these techniques and methods.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software


Salary

$50,000 - $65,000 annual

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
