Job Description
The Equal Opportunity Officer's (Case Manager and University Hearing Officer) primary responsibility will be to provide intake, assistance, initial process outreach, administrative guidance, and other facilitation under the University’s Anti-Harassment and Non-Discrimination Policy involving University students and employees. This position will also provide initial intake and outreach for employees requesting information for reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act. This position will also serve as a member of the panel of decision-makers in cases involving sexual harassment, sexual violence, dating violence, domestic violence, sexual exploitation, and stalking. The Equal Opportunity Officer (Case Manager and University Hearing Officer) will also provide guidance, support, and delivery of programming and services for Illinois State University students, faculty, and staff to support diversity, inclusiveness, equal access, equitable treatment, and a campus climate free from discrimination and harassment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
1. High school graduation, GED, or equivalent
2. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years from the following categories:
(a) work experience in equal opportunity/diversity or closely related occupational area, with duties comparable to those listed by the Equal Opportunity Officer Specification.
(b) college course work in social sciences, behavioral sciences, and business sciences or a related field:
-60 semester hours or an Associate's degree equals one (1) year (12 months)
-90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
-120 semester hours or a Bachelor's degree equals three (3) years (36 months)
-Master's degree or higher equals four (4) years (48 months)
(c) progressively more responsible general or specialized office experience which included aspects of supervising staff or job function, organizing, and performing duties that lead to knowledge of generally accepted office principles
Desired Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree or higher.
2. Ability and experience responding to complaints and/or reports of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
3. Prior experience in participating and/or overseeing Title IX/Student Conduct Hearing Officer.
4.Drafting comprehensive reports that include findings and outcomes.
5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the University community and outside constituents.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise independent sound judgement.
7. Excellent organization skills with attention to detail and the ability to respond to change efficiently and effectively.
8. Proven ability to manage conflict and remain impartial while demonstrating sensitivity.
9. Experience with building effective partnerships with diverse campus and community constituencies, operating in a manner consistent with the University's mission and culture.
10. Ability to develop and deliver educational programming as it relates to harassment, discrimination, and retaliation in accordance with Federal and State laws.
11. Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness and the ability to interact cross culturally, promoting a welcoming and supportive environment free from discrimination and harassment.
12. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs, database programs, and general information technology.
13. Experience collecting, organizing, and updating large databases and/or electronic data.
14. Ability to utilize case management software (example: Symplicity Advocate) to provide data and detailed reports.
Salary
$50,000 - $60,000/year
