Job Description

General Summary

Properly maintain annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees to ensure an aesthetically pleasing presentation of campus.

Additional Information

This position will be required to operate necessary pieces of snow equipment during snow removal and salting events on campus.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

1. Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance of gardens, lawns, shrubs, or trees.
2. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.

Desired Qualifications

1. Appropriate State of Illinois Pesticide license and knowledge of USEPA regulations regarding pesticide use and storage.
2. Ability to supervise.
3. Knowledge in the operation of greenhouse production and scheduling.
4. Ability to follow simple instructions and work as directed.
5. Ability to communicate with the general public as well as persons in the industry in a manner complimentary to the University.
6. Possession of a valid driver's license as required by the State of Illinois for the type of motor vehicle(s) to be operated by the incumbent.

Additional Desirable Attributes:
1. Understanding of horticulture, plant health care and cultural practices.

Salary

18.78 per hour
