Job Description
Eastern Illinois University’s Information Technology Services is seeking qualified applicants for the position of IT Technical Associate – Network Engineer. This position will be responsible for the maintenance, support, updates and upgrades, testing and troubleshooting the campus network infrastructure. Duties will include:
• Design, operation, support, monitoring, trend analysis, forecasting and testing of the campus Local Area Network/Wide
Area Network.
• Provide technical and engineering expertise for all phases of the university’s enterprise Wi-Fi network.
• Configure, monitor, troubleshoot and deploy the Uninterruptible Power System.
• Prepare documentation and training to support the network infrastructure for user support.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have any combination totaling two (2) years from the following:
• Progressively more responsible work experience in the Information Technology (IT) related profession.
• College course work which included Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or closely related discipline as
measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
1. 60 semester hours or an Associate’s Degree equals to one (1) year.
2. 90-120 semester hours or a Bachelor’s Degree equals two (2) years.
Additional requirements are 1 year of network switching and/or wireless experience in an enterprise setting, preferably on Cisco equipment.
