Job Description

Under general direction provided by the Thomas Metcalf Elementary School Principal, the Business Manager is responsible for all budgets for Thomas Metcalf School, as well as overseeing the billing and payments for student accounts. This exposure encompasses the University community, general public, students, parents, and special visitors to Thomas Metcalf School. Therefore, this person must be able to present a professional personal demeanor, answer questions tactfully, and provide meaningful and accurate answers to questions spanning the entire range of unit responsibilities. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing the substitute teacher needs of Thomas Metcalf School.

This is a continuous, year-round position. This position is not subject to summer academic break layoff.
Additional Information:
Metcalf Laboratory School is a service unit of the College of Education of Illinois State University. It offers a comprehensive program of instruction for 400+ students in grades PreK-8. Metcalf is a caring community of life-long learners. Its mission is to act as a model for educational methods and theory in support of the preparation of future educators, conduct educational research, offer quality educational programs for children, and disseminate information to others in the educational profession.


Qualifications

1. Bachelor's or equivalent degree in business administration, management, or field related to the position.

2. Two (2) years of professional level work experience in managerial and/or business experience, including budget management.

If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, then employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
