Job Description

The Study Abroad Advisor's role is to advise students, parents, faculty and staff on study abroad opportunities offered through Illinois State. This position is responsible for study abroad recruitment and outreach, the management of portfolio of study abroad programs, preparing and advising students for an experience abroad, and responding to the needs/issues of students, parents, staff, and faculty. This individual must be a team player with excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, the ability to multi-task, a willingness to be flexible, and attentive to detail.


Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree

2. One (1) year of professional work experience in one or a combination of the following:
a. performing in an administrative position in a university or college administrative office
b. performing in an advisor and/or counselor position, preferably in higher education

3. Demonstrated participation in a 4 week or longer study abroad program

4. Demonstrated strong administrative competency, organizational ability, and attention to detail

5. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills

6. Ability to multi-task, with the flexibility to adjust to quickly changing demands

If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, then employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.


Salary

$2,988 - $3,883 per month

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
