Waiter/Waitress

Function of Job

Under direct supervision from a designated supervisor, to serve meals to patrons of a dining room.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

A(n) Waiter/Waitress typically -

  1. sets up tables with clean linens and silverware and arrange condiments;
  2. fills up water glasses and pour beverages for patrons;
  3. arranges service stands with needed equipment and supplies;
  4. takes patrons' orders and places dishes before them in an accepted manner;
  5. assists in clearing and resting tables;
  6. prepares simple salads and dishes up serving of dessert;
  7. computes the amount of each check. makes collections and change;
  8. gives oral instructions to others as delegated;
  9. performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Knowledge of correct methods of setting tables and of serviced procedures.
  2. Skill in maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
  3. Ability to read, write, and follow simple instructions.
