Job Description
Campus Dining Services (CDS) is a large progressive, innovative department functioning under the Division of Student Affairs. CDS provides the campus community and guests with high-quality foods and services in a variety of settings dedicated to accentuating and enhancing the customer experience in a diverse community. This position will either be assigned to Illinois State University Catering or a Residential Unit such as Watterson Dining Commons.
Illinois State University Catering
This position plays an integral role by assisting with the supervision of food service for special events, banquets, receptions, coffee service, luncheons, cultural meals, and dinners. This position requires the ability to think on one's feet, make on the spot decisions, and be flexible in work schedule to meet the needs of our customers. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for catering set ups and service
- Supervise, train, mentor, evaluate, and discipline student employees
- Provide excellent customer service
Residential Unit
This position plays an integral role by ensuring dining center cleanliness, comfort, and attractiveness, promoting a positive customer service environment, overseeing the cash register operation and ensuring high quality products are available to the customer at all times. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Ensures quality standards are upheld
- Controls labor hours in venues of responsibility; scheduling, training staff and assigning duties, evaluates job performance of venue employees, review time cards for accuracy and checks schedule to reconcile time
- Provide excellent customer service
Qualifications
1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Two (2) years of food service supervisory experience or University training in dietetics, hotel management, institutional management, or related fields (verify with transcript).
3. If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.
4. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.
Salary
$14.68 - $18.16 per hour
