Job Description

Employees at this level provide free confidential business counseling and training to assist business and student entrepreneurs and business owners in exploring capabilities, feasibility and opportunities to export their products and services worldwide.


Qualifications

1. Master’s degree (i.e. MBA, MIM, or MS) with an emphasis in International Trade or International Business
2. One (1) year of experience in International Trade or an International Business.
3. Computer literacy with working knowledge of Internet, email, word processing, spreadsheet and database packages.
4. Possess or have ability to obtain CGBP (Certified Global Business Professional) certification within 12 months of hire date.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of how small businesses in Illinois use the STEP program.
2, Knowledge of available freight forwarders in the state of Illinois.
3. Basic knowledge of trade and tariff issues affecting regional exporting companies.
4. Ability to continue professional development to attain the additional skills needed to engage clients and client staffs with training and instruction on all aspects of International Trade.
5. Ability to communicate effectively

10. Skill in territory management
11. Skill in using Microsoft Office Suite
12. Ability to become proficient in using Neoserra, Ryver and any addition software platforms as instructed by DCEO.
13. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
14. Willingness to adapt to a flexible work schedule: extensive travel within the service area and throughout the state, early morning or evening meetings and training events, and multi-day conferences.
15. Self-motivated, with ability to work independently using affective organizational skills to manage a complex workload.
