Forest Custodian

Function of Job

Under general supervision from a designated supervisor, to perform work related to the grounds maintenance and general upkeep of a university woods.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

A(n) Forest Custodian typically -

  1. clears fire breaks;
  2. poisons trees and weeds;
  3. checks erosion conditions;
  4. repairs fences, gates, and culverts;
  5. provides general watch service over the areas on which they are working to prevent trespass;
  6. does grounds work on the campus at such times and seasons as presence is not needed in the university woods;
  7. performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Skill in the use of tools and equipment.
