Level I: Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic Helper
Employees at this level assist in performing duties involved in the maintenance of aircraft power plants. They work under direct supervision from a designated supervisor.
A(n) Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic Helper typically -
- aids in the maintenance, overhaul, repair, and construction of aircraft and aircraft power plants;
- aids in the repair and installation of aircraft instruments;
- aids in servicing aircraft;
- aids in inspection and cleaning of aircraft;
- performs other related duties as assigned.

Level II: Senior Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic
Employees at this level perform responsible duties requiring a high degree of skill and experience in the maintenance and repair of aircraft, aircraft power plants, and component parts. They work under general supervision from a designated supervisor.
A(n) Senior Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic typically -
- supervises subordinates and assigned students;
- is responsible for such repairs, overhauls, inspections, and work as may be assigned on airframes and power plants in the shop or on the flight line;
- operates miscellaneous machines required to maintain aircraft (such as lathes, drill presses, and testing equipment);
- removes and installs aircraft instruments and radios;
- assists in teaching when required;
- performs other related duties as assigned.

Level III: Master Aircraft and Aircraft Engine Mechanic
Employees at this level do precision work requiring a high degree of mechanical skill in the development, building, maintenance, and repair of aircraft, aircraft power plants, and component parts. They work under general supervision from a designated supervisor.
A(n) Master Aircraft and Aircraft Engine Mechanic typically -
- develops, designs, and builds aircraft and aircraft power plants from blueprints and specifications;
- performs skilled mechanical work with fine tolerances;
- plans, assigns, and oversees the work of subordinates;
- is responsible for repairs, overhauls, and inspections of such aircraft and aircraft power plants as may be assigned;
- assists in teaching when required;
- operates all types of testing devices, as well as all shop machinery;
- installs and repairs all types of aircraft accessories;
- performs other related duties as assigned.
