Business Analyst Manager

Job Description

The Business Analyst Manager supervises and mentors a team of Business Analysts who are responsible for liaising between University business partners and technology staff in Administrative Technologies. BA responsibilities include building relationships with business partners; understanding, documenting and improving business processes and practices; eliciting requirements and use cases for changes to technology; creating appropriate documentation; and guiding change requests through the approval process. The goal of business analysis is to improve processes, whether with or without technology. Every process in place at the University should be optimized by eliminating inefficiencies and improving effectiveness in order to enable the mission, strategy, goals and objectives of the organization.

This position performs the same duties as team members, as well as manages the team. The supervisory responsibilities of this role include:
1. Manage and supervise the day-to-day activities of the team;
2. Ensure productivity through effective use of time, tools, and resources;
3. Establish effective standards and processes;
4. Train, guide, coach, motivate, challenge and mentor team members;
5. Communicate team status, task accomplishment, and direction;
6. Perform personnel duties related to HR.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, or a related field; or Bachelor's degree in another field with 2 years of experience in technology related position
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Business Analyst or related position in an IT environment
3. Demonstrated experience training, coaching, motivating, challenging, and mentoring team members
4. Ability to assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, make recommendations and/or resolve the problem, and escalate to management as needed
5. Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization
6. Ability to negotiate with different levels of leadership to achieve consensus
7. Possess excellent interpersonal communication, writing and presentation skills
8. Ability to positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization
9. Ability to analyze large amounts of detailed information, quickly understand complex issues, and break information down into smaller pieces more manageable pieces
10. Must possess and demonstrate excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to assess situations, troubleshoot, and make recommendations from both strategic and tactical perspectives
11. Demonstrated experience improving processes to eliminate waste and inefficiencies
12. Demonstrated experience re-designing business process and designing software solutions
13. Demonstrated experience gathering requirements and writing use cases
14. Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings and documenting notes
15. Demonstrated experience creating deliverables such as requirements documents and business process maps
16. Demonstrated experience establishing healthy business relationships
17. Comfortable interacting and building collaborative relationships with diverse groups of people, from end users to executives
18. Ability to facilitate meetings in non-threatening manner to meet participants at their level of understanding
19. Able to drive discussions to a decision
20. Possess excellent documentation skills
21. Ability to find or develop innovative ideas and creative solutions to challenges.
22. Ability to multi-task, and manage multiple deadlines and tasks to ensure on time work completion
23. Ability to work independently and in a team environment with good communication and collaboration skills
24. Provide strong customer service skills along with a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability.
25. Must have strong organizational skills
26. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certification or ability to obtain within first one (1) year of employment.
