Series Narrative­

Employees in this series perform duties requiring skill in the trade of painter.

 

DESCRIPTIONS OF LEVELS OF WORK

 

Level I: Painter                                                                                                   3027

Employees at this level perform skilled work in the trade of painter. They work under direct supervision from a designated supervisor.

 

A Painter typically –

 

1.      perform all duties peculiar to and normally required in the trade of painter, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work

 

 

Level II: Painter Sub-Foreman                                                                           1922

Employees at this level direct and/or lead and assign work to painters. They work under direct supervision from a Painter Foreman.

 

A Painter Sub-Foreman typically –

 

1.      assists in the direction and assignment of work

 

2.      verifies and approves material requisitions of employees being supervised

 

3.      performs all duties peculiar to and normally required in the trade of painter, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work

 

4.      approves time cards

 

5.      acts for the foreman during his/her absence

 

6.      assists in and is responsible for the work of assigned painters

 

7.      performs other related duties as assigned

 

 

Level III: Painter Foreman                                                                                 1764

Employees at this level supervise the work of painters, painter sub­-foremen, and/or painter chargemen. They work under general supervision from a designated supervisor.

 

A Painter Foreman typically –

 

1.      directs and supervises the work of painters, painter sub-foremen, and/or painter chargemen

 

2.      acts as custodian of tools, equipment, and materials used on the job

 

3.      checks time cards and materials

 

4.      performs all duties peculiar to and normally required in the trade of painter, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work

 

5.      verifies and approves material requisitioned by employees being supervised

 

6.      maintains records

 

7.      performs related duties as assigned

 

 

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR ENTRY INTO:

 

Level I: Painter                                                                                                   3027

 

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

 

1.      experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman painter, with a minimum of four years of actual work at the trade, including apprentice or vocational training

 

2.      must acquire, during probation, a valid Illinois Department of Public Health Lead Abatement Worker License (if required by the institution to be served)

 

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO UNDERTAKE JOB

 

1.      skill in the use of tools and equipment

 


 

Level II: Painter Sub-Foreman                                                                           1922

 

CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

 

1.      experience sufficient to qualify for journeyman painter status, with a minimum of seven years of actual work at the trade, including apprentice or vocational training

 

2.      must require, during probation, a valid Illinois Department of Public Health Lead Abatement Supervisor License (if required by the institution to be served)

 

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO UNDERTAKE JOB

 

1.      skill in the use of tools and equipment

 

2.      supervisory ability

 

3.      clerical ability

 

 

Level III: Painter Foreman                                                                                 1764
