5.8 Termination

Manual: Employment and Separation Procedures

Subsection: Separation Procedures

An employee shall be separated by termination when:

  1. As a Temporary or Extra Help employee the work assignment is completed.
  2. As a Provisional employee, the employee fails the examination and qualified candidates have become available for appointment. (He/she may remain in the position providing no candidate becomes available for the appointment.)
  3. As an Apprentice, or Intern, the employee is separated from the training program prior to completion or is not certified to a status position following completion of the training program.
  4. The employee is unable to return to work at the expiration of disability leave.
  5. The employee dies.
  6. The employee retires.

The University System Office shall be notified of certain terminations. See Example 5.8a

Enter the termination and effective date on all appropriate employment records.
